Kanak-kanak lelaki berusia 8 tahun akur mengikut arahan. Setiap anak tangga dipijak dengan berat hati. Tiba di atas bumbung bangunan kosong itu, baru dia sedar terdapat burung merpati di dalam kotak itu. Timbul rasa kagum terhadap haiwan berbulu putih dan terus menyukainya.
Tapi seorang daripada mereka mengambil merpati itu dan mematahkan lehernya sehingga ia terkulai mati. Bukan itu sahaja, dia juga menerima tumbukan bersama merpati itu pada mukanya.
Bagaikan harimau yang sedang tidur dikejutkan, kanak-kanak itu Mike Tyson atau nama sebenarnya Michael Gerard sudah tidak tahan dibuli anak jiran yang nakal itu, lalu memukul pembulinya berkali-kali. Sejak itu, sikap Tyson yang pendiam dan pemalu, berubah menjadi berani dan liar untuk sesuaikan diri kehidupan sosial di Brooklyn, kawasan yang baru dia sekeluarga berpindah.
Kenakalan Mike Tyson ketika zaman kanak-kanaknya yang juga dipengaruhi faktor keluarga kurang stabil menyebabkan dia keluar masuk penjara juvana. Pelatih tinju terkenal, Cus D'Amato tertarik dengan bakat Mike Tyson untuk dilatih menjadi peninju profesional. Pada 6 Mac 1985, beliau bertanding secara profesional di Albany, New York dan menang pada setiap pusingan pertama bagi 16 perlawanan.
Tanggal 22 November 1986, Tyson berusia 20 tahun meraih gelaran juara kelas berat apabila dapat menjatuhkan pihak lawannya, Trevor Berbick. Ini menjadikan beliau sebagai juara dunia berat termuda di dunia.
Kerjaya Tyson terjejas apabila dibabitkan dengan kes jenayah seksual terhadap peserta Miss Black America 1991, Desiree Washington pada 10 Februari. Beliau dijatuhkan hukuman dipenjarakan selama tiga tahun.
Belajar Islam di penjara
Berita Tyson dimasukkan penjara di Indiana menjadi tumpuan umum. Tatkala itu terdetik di hati sukarelawan, Muhammed Sadiq berkata, 'mungkin ALLAH dah rancang untuk Tyson belajar dengannya tentang Islam'.
Muhammed pernah memberi nasihat yang berbekas di hati Tyson: "Walaupun anda di dalam penjara, tetapi dunia di luar sana adalah penjara yang sebenar. Ia adalah mudah mengamalkan Islam di dalam penjara berbanding di dunia yang penuh dugaan dan godaan, mampu membelenggu kita yakni perlu mencari perlindungan melalui Islam."
Bagi Tyson, masuk penjara tidaklah seburuk disangka. Malah beliau dapat mengenali Islam, belajar al-Quran. berpuasa ketika Ramadan, mempelajari agama itu lebih mendalam serta mengamalkannya di sana.
Selepas keluar penjara pada 1995, Tyson mengumumkan keislamannya yang dipelajari selama di penjara dan nama barunya, Malik Abdul Aziz. Selepas menjadi Muslim, Tayson dilihat lebih lebih tenang, bersederhana dan menghormati.
Pada November 1996, beliau kembali beraksi di gelanggang tetapi dikalahkan Evander Holyfield. Insiden Tyson menggigit telinga Holyfield pada pertarungan Jun 1997 menyebabkan beliau didenda sebanyak RM9.9 juta. Kehidupan Tyson diuji lagi apabila mengalami bankrap dan kariernya semakin malap sehingga memaksanya untuk bersara pada 2005.
Pada 2 Julai 2010, menjadi detik bersejarah buat Tyson apabila pertama kali menjejakkan kaki ke Tanah Suci untuk mengerjakan umrah yang diatur CDA, dengan ditemani presidennya, Shazad Mohammad. Pada masa sama kehadiran beliau turut menjadi tarikan pengunjung di sana. Beliau berharap peminat membiarkannya bersendirian untuk menjalani ibadah dengan penuh penghayatan.
Doa setiap hari
Bertubuh gagah, berwajah serius dan tangkas di gelanggang, tetapi bila Tyson dengan hanya berpakaian ihram di berada di Taman Raudah, Masjid Nabawi Madinah, hatinya mula meruntun. Selepas 10 tahun memeluk Islam, barulah beliau menjadi tetamu ALLAH.
"Saya tidak dapat menahan air mata apabila mendapat tahu saya berada di dalam satu daripada taman syurga.
"Insya-ALLAH, ALLAH akan merahmati saya untuk berada di jalan yang benar," katanya yang berada di Taman Raudhah beberapa jam untuk bersolat, mengaji al-Quran dan berzikir.
Beliau akui sangat takutkan ALLAH kerana banyak kesalahan dalam hidup dan mengenangkan neraka kerana dosanya. Oleh itu beliau berdoa memohon ampunan ALLAH setiap hari.
Menurut Shahzad, Tyson menangis lebih setengah jam ketika berdiri di depan makam Rasullah SAW untuk mengucapkan salam sambil mengangkat tangan.
Di Tanah Suci, Tyson turut terpesona dengan kawanan merpati dan sempat memberi makan kepada haiwan kesukaannya itu. Ini mengimbas kenangan ketika usianya 10 tahun, sanggup mencuri wang untuk membeli merpati menjadi peliharaannya.
Tyson mempunyai lapan anak melalui tiga perkahwinan. Anak perempuannya, Exodus, 4, meninggal dunia pada 2009. Kini Tyson menjalani kehidupan berkeluarga bersama isterinya, Lakiha Spicer, dan anak-anaknya di Las Vegas.
"Saya kini gembira bersama keluarga. Tidak perlu keluar ke mana-mana lagi. Setiap hari saya menunggu anak pulang dari sekolah," katanya.

Mantan juara dunia tinju kelas berat, Mike Tyson, mengaku menyesal telah menyia-nyiakan karirnya di dunia tinju. Kini, Si Leher Beton hanya ingin menjadi ayah yang baik bagi anak-anaknya.
Dalam sebuah wawancara dengan media Jerman, Speigel, Tyson menceritakan karirnya sebagai petinju rusak karena tingkah lakunya sendiri. Mantan petinju yang telah memeluk Islam tersebut mengaku dulu dirinya seorang psikopat.
Tyson menjadi juara dunia tinju kelas berat termuda di usia 20 pada 1986 dengan mengalahkan Trevor Berbick di perebutan gelar juara dunia kelas berat WBC. Setahun kemudian, merebut gelar juara dunia kelas berat WBA dan IBF.
Pada 1992, karir Tyson mulai terpengaruh kehidupannya di luar ring. Saat itu Tyson harus hidup di balik jeruji selama tiga tahun karena melakukan pemerkosaan. Karir pria yang kini menginjak 45 tahun tersebut sempat meningkat pasca-penjara. Namun, setelah dikalahkan Evander Holyfield pada November 1996, kehebatan Tyson di atas ring tinggal sejarah.
Setelah itu Tyson harus melewati masa sulit termasuk kebangkrutan dan hanya beberapa kali melakukan pertarungan demi sekedar mencari nafkah. Tyson pun mengungkapkan mengapa karir tinjunya rosak.
“Saat itu saya seorang bajingan, psikopat, dan kotoran. Saya pikir saya raja dunia. Tidak akan ada petinju yang menelan obat-obatan lebih banyak daripada saya. Bahkan saya tidak menyangka bisa hidup lebih dari 30 tahun. Saya beruntung masih bisa hidup. Tinju telah membuat saya gila,” ujar Tyson kepada Speigel.
Tyson kini tinggal di Las Vegas dengan istri ketiganya, Lakiha, dan dua putra-putri, Morocco serta Milan. Pria yang memiliki nama Islam, Malik Abdul Aziz tersebut mengaku senang dengan kehidupan yang dijalaninya saat ini.
“Saya hanya ingin menjadi ayah yang baik. Saya ingin anak-anak memandang saya seorang ayah yang baik. Saya tidak minum alkohol, tidak merokok, tidak minum obat-obatan. Saya vegetarian, tidak makan daging dan telur.”
Pengalaman Spiritual di Kota Nabi
Inilah pengalaman spiritual mantan juara dunia tinju kelas berat Mike Tyson ketika melaksanakan ibadah umroh, beberapa hari yang lalu. Tyson menginjak Tanah Suci untuk kali pertama pada Jumat, 2 Juli 2010.
Selama di Madinah, ia bertemu dengan Dr. Muhammad Al-Uqala, Rektor Universitas Islam, yang menjelaskan kepadanya tentang fasilitas apa saja yang diberikan universitas kepada para mahasiswanya yang berasal dari seluruh dunia.
Kunjungannya ke Arab Saudi diatur oleh Asosiasi Da’wah Kanada (CDA),CDA merupakan lembaga dakwah yang banyak mensponsori selebriti Muslim baru untuk berkunjung ke Arab Saudi untuk melaksanakan rukun islam.
Perjalanan Tyson tersebut diatur oleh Canadian Dawa Association (CDA), yaitu Asosiasi Da’wah di Kanada yang biasa mengatur perjalanan para muallaf selebriti mengunjungi tempat-tempat bersejarah Islam di Arab Saudi. Shazad Muhammad, Presiden CDA, ikut serta menyambut kedatangan Tyson di Bandara Internasional Pangeran Muhammad, Madinah.
Tyson mengaku mendapat pengalaman spiritual luar biasa selama Umrah di Arab Saudi. “Saya senang punya fans yang mencintai saya di Arab Saudi. Tapi, saya berharap mereka meninggalkan saya sendiri untuk menikmati momen spiritual di Tanah Suci. Saya tidak kuasa menitikkan air mata ketika saya mengetahui bahwa saya berada di salah satu taman surga,” ujar Tyson ketika mengunjungi Masjid Nabawi.
Dari Madinah, rencananya Tyson akan melanjutkan perjalanan ke Mekkah untuk melaksanakan umrah. Usai melakukan umrah di Mekkah, Mantan juara tinju dunia ini berencana mengunjungi Jeddah, Abha dan Riyadh.
Tyson yang bernama lengkap Michael Gerard Tyson lahir di New York City, Amerika, 30 Juni 1966. Tyson memeluk Islam ketika masih dipenjara pada pertengahan tahun 1990. Secara resmi, tahun 1995, selepas dari penjara di Indiana, Tyson mengumumkan hijrah memeluk agama Islam yang telah dipelajarinya selama di dalam penjara, dengan nama baru Malik Abdul Aziz.

Muhammad Ali (born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr.; January 17, 1942) is an American former professional boxer, philanthropist and social activist. Considered a cultural icon, Ali has both been idolized and vilified.

Pada 1992, karir Tyson mulai terpengaruh kehidupannya di luar ring. Saat itu Tyson harus hidup di balik jeruji selama tiga tahun karena melakukan pemerkosaan. Karir pria yang kini menginjak 45 tahun tersebut sempat meningkat pasca-penjara. Namun, setelah dikalahkan Evander Holyfield pada November 1996, kehebatan Tyson di atas ring tinggal sejarah.
Setelah itu Tyson harus melewati masa sulit termasuk kebangkrutan dan hanya beberapa kali melakukan pertarungan demi sekedar mencari nafkah. Tyson pun mengungkapkan mengapa karir tinjunya rosak.
“Saat itu saya seorang bajingan, psikopat, dan kotoran. Saya pikir saya raja dunia. Tidak akan ada petinju yang menelan obat-obatan lebih banyak daripada saya. Bahkan saya tidak menyangka bisa hidup lebih dari 30 tahun. Saya beruntung masih bisa hidup. Tinju telah membuat saya gila,” ujar Tyson kepada Speigel.
Tyson kini tinggal di Las Vegas dengan istri ketiganya, Lakiha, dan dua putra-putri, Morocco serta Milan. Pria yang memiliki nama Islam, Malik Abdul Aziz tersebut mengaku senang dengan kehidupan yang dijalaninya saat ini.
“Saya hanya ingin menjadi ayah yang baik. Saya ingin anak-anak memandang saya seorang ayah yang baik. Saya tidak minum alkohol, tidak merokok, tidak minum obat-obatan. Saya vegetarian, tidak makan daging dan telur.”

Inilah pengalaman spiritual mantan juara dunia tinju kelas berat Mike Tyson ketika melaksanakan ibadah umroh, beberapa hari yang lalu. Tyson menginjak Tanah Suci untuk kali pertama pada Jumat, 2 Juli 2010.
Selama di Madinah, ia bertemu dengan Dr. Muhammad Al-Uqala, Rektor Universitas Islam, yang menjelaskan kepadanya tentang fasilitas apa saja yang diberikan universitas kepada para mahasiswanya yang berasal dari seluruh dunia.
Kunjungannya ke Arab Saudi diatur oleh Asosiasi Da’wah Kanada (CDA),CDA merupakan lembaga dakwah yang banyak mensponsori selebriti Muslim baru untuk berkunjung ke Arab Saudi untuk melaksanakan rukun islam.
Perjalanan Tyson tersebut diatur oleh Canadian Dawa Association (CDA), yaitu Asosiasi Da’wah di Kanada yang biasa mengatur perjalanan para muallaf selebriti mengunjungi tempat-tempat bersejarah Islam di Arab Saudi. Shazad Muhammad, Presiden CDA, ikut serta menyambut kedatangan Tyson di Bandara Internasional Pangeran Muhammad, Madinah.
Tyson mengaku mendapat pengalaman spiritual luar biasa selama Umrah di Arab Saudi. “Saya senang punya fans yang mencintai saya di Arab Saudi. Tapi, saya berharap mereka meninggalkan saya sendiri untuk menikmati momen spiritual di Tanah Suci. Saya tidak kuasa menitikkan air mata ketika saya mengetahui bahwa saya berada di salah satu taman surga,” ujar Tyson ketika mengunjungi Masjid Nabawi.
Dari Madinah, rencananya Tyson akan melanjutkan perjalanan ke Mekkah untuk melaksanakan umrah. Usai melakukan umrah di Mekkah, Mantan juara tinju dunia ini berencana mengunjungi Jeddah, Abha dan Riyadh.
Tyson yang bernama lengkap Michael Gerard Tyson lahir di New York City, Amerika, 30 Juni 1966. Tyson memeluk Islam ketika masih dipenjara pada pertengahan tahun 1990. 1.Muhammad Ali
Muhammad Ali (born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr.; January 17, 1942) is an American former professional boxer, philanthropist and social activist. Considered a cultural icon, Ali has both been idolized and vilified.
Originally known as Cassius Clay, at the age of 22 he won the world heavyweight championship from Sonny Liston. Ali changed his name after joining the Nation of Islam in 1964, subsequently converting to Sunni Islam in 1975. In 1967, three years after Ali had won the heavyweight championship, he was publicly vilified for his refusal to be conscripted into the U.S. military, based on his religious beliefs and opposition to the Vietnam War. His 1966 statement, "Man, I ain't got no quarrel with them Viet Cong", was one of the more telling remarks of that era.
Ali was eventually arrested and found guilty on draft evasion charges; he was stripped of his boxing title, and his boxing license was suspended. He was not imprisoned, but did not fight again for nearly four years while his appeal worked its way up to the U.S. Supreme Court, where it was eventually successful.

Michael Gerard "Mike" Tyson (also known as Malik Abdul Aziz) (born June 30, 1966) is a retired American professional boxer. Tyson is a former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and holds the record as the youngest boxer to win the WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight titles at 20 years, 4 months, and 22 days old. Tyson won his first 19 professional bouts by knockout, 12 of them in the first round. He won the WBC title in 1986 after defeating Trevor Berbick by a TKO in the second round.
